I Am So Glad It's The Weekend!

So on my way home this afternoon, I had my window open, enjoying the fresh air and the sunshine. I am waiting at a red light , and I am thinking "Wow, listen to those robins chirping". I was so excited. Robins are my favourite harbinger of spring don't-cha know. Then I started laughing and silently called myself an idiot. It was the crossing signal chirping I had been listening to. Dhuh!!!!!! I am so glad it is the weekend. SIGH!!!

Pillow Talk

The problem with weekends is that your internal clock is still on the work day time line.
Unless I am sick, I usually wake up between 6Am and 7Am, seven days a week.
Not fair!
Some weekends I feel lazy and just want to sleep for an extra hour.
That never works.
For the most part I wake up at my regular time.
Today was no exception. I was awake shortly after 6Am but wasn't ready to get out of bed right away. I fluffed my pillow, changed position and closed my eyes.....for about 3 minutes, then opened them knowing I was not going to back to sleep. Hmmm........ I didn't want to get up. I was toasty warm under my blanket and the room was icy cold (furnace turned way down and window open a crack year round) and it wasn't completely light outside so my room was still fairly dark. Mind you, having blinds that are designed to keep out daylight helps too. Anyway, I had the perfect conditions for sleeping except that I was wide awake. What's a girl to do? I was too lazy to turn on the light and grab a book to read. I didn't want to turn on the radio for fear of waking up Hubby John, next door, who had finally stopped coughing and was getting some much needed sleep, and I was feeling too darn lazy to crawl out of my toasty warm bed and officially start my day. Sigh.... But then I heard it.....a tiny little squeak....Baby Cat Oscar.....where was he? Lifting my head without letting cold air get under the blankets, I could just make out his chubby outline at the very bottom end of the bed. Using my best coaxing voice and keeping it to a whisper I called him. "Hey Baby Cat....come see mom!" There was no answer. Hmmm, maybe he was more asleep than I thought. Speaking a bit louder, in order to wake him up, I called out, "Oscar, come here, come on Baby Cat, come see mom." Still no response. I was thinking how nice it must be nice to be able to sleep like the dead. And then I thought... "Oh, no! Maybe he's not sleeping....maybe something has happened to him. Maybe he is sick or.... dead. Eww....not on the bed Baby Cat! So I called loudly this time..."Oscar...come on...come see mom....Baby Cat come here....come see mom... Baby Cat wake up.....NOW! There was no movement from the bottom of the bed so I sat up to crawl down to check him out when I heard it...........the sound of Velcro being ripped open...coming from the hall way.....along with the noise of a cat complaining about being disturbed. That would be Baby Cat Oscar walking up the stairs while complaining that his food dish has not been filled yet. Hmmm.......if Baby Cat is not in my room, then what the heck is on the end of my bed? Dhuh......turns out it was one of my round log pillows.......silly me. I need to start taking my glasses upstairs at night so I can see what I am doing in the morning. Baby Cat Oscar came into my room complaining and sounding like Velcro (his nails will be trimmed today) and crawled up onto the bed and laid down beside me for his morning pets and scratches. I scratched behind his ears, rubbed his belly and, with him purring loudly in my ear, told him all about my day coming up. It was nothing special, just another normal morning, well maybe a bit different with that extra pillow talk.

Lazy Day

Today was an extremely lazy day for me. I got up at 8:00 this morning and after doing the usual bathroom stuff (I was going to say crap but somehow that just sounds wrong doesn't it?) and putting on a load of laundry, I made my cup of tea and settled down in my front room with the sun shining in, to read my book. I really wanted a bologna sandwich for breakfast so I had one. Not toasted, whole wheat bread, (although I prefer white with bologna) with a little butter, lots of yellow mustard and some really good bologna. It can't be no name brand....nope....it has to be J.M. Schneider's Blue Ribbon Bologna...it is the absolute best there is! Now I know some people might think a bologna sandwich is a weird thing for breakfast but I know people who eat leftover pizza for breakfast. And they eat it cold. Now THAT'S weird!!! Anyway, I digress. So I got my sandwich, my hot cup of tea, my Baby Cat Oscar keeping my feet warm and the book I am reading which is the third in this particular series "A song Of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. It happens to be a good series, a fiction with knights, kings, damsels in distress, dragons, good guys and bad guys. I'm enjoying it very much as is Hubby John, who is on the first book of the series. So there I am, reading in the sunshine with Baby Cat Oscar snoring away while keeping my feet warm and I finish my yummy bologna sandwich and my hot cup of tea and the next thing I know my book has fallen on the floor. Hmmmm........maybe I need to go take a nap. After all it is 9:30 and I have been up for over an hour now. So off Baby Cat and I go to crawl back into bed for a little snooze. At 10:30 I hear Hubby John moving around and at 11:00 I finally haul my lazy ass bones out of bed.....again. I had a shower hoping it would wake me up, drank another cup of hot tea, and decided it was lunch time and had a toasted bacon and tomato sandwich for lunch. Then off to the mall to buy a graduation gift for daughter Jaime who graduates from University on Wednesday with her teaching degree. I knew exactly what I wanted to get her. Just the perfect shopping trip. No muss....no fuss...just in and out....wham bam....thank you mam...you have a nice day too! Home to HJ who hadn't moved very much while I was gone. It was time for a cold root-beer, a Turkish Delight bar and another few pages of my book. I should have wrapped the gift but I will do it tomorrow as I have Monday off. Today I was just too lazy and tired. At 3:00 I laid down for a half hour power nap and then got up and went outside to weed my front garden. Is it still called a garden when you have flowering bushes only? I suppose so because what else would you call it? So there I was with my hand spade, a pail for weeds and my handy dandy clippers which I would never be without.
Now don't get me wrong. I love gardens. But I hate gardening. When you buy a bush for the garden they should have to tell you that 4 foot long thorns will eventually grow from the plant. Nooooo.......they only go on and on about the beautiful cascading red blossoms that will transform your garden from a ugly piece of land to a showcase area of your home. Yeah.....right.....
Truth be told they were right. It does look nice when it flowers. But when you need to weed around it you have to wear chain mail to keep from looking like you had a fight with the neighbourhood tom cat. Man, I have scratches everywhere....my arms, my legs, my face and even on my knees. Note to myself: pull that damn bush out this fall. However, I persevered and now the front garden is ready to have mulch put on it and the neighbours no longer have to shudder every time they look out their front windows. Around 7:00 pm after I got everything out front cleaned up and put away, I made a quick dash to the store for some tomatoes and tortilla chips. Twenty minutes later I got to sit down to a lovely taco salad that Hubby John made for supper. That salad is listed as one of my favourite meals. I made a Sauce N' Cake mix up for dessert and it baked while I did dishes. Mmmmmmmm......perfect end to a perfect meal.
So all in all it was a very lazy day and I enjoyed every minute of it.....except for that stupid woman eating bush which I can guarantee you will not be there next spring.

I feel ill.

SIGH.................................
I feel ill.
I just came home from a 10 day vacation in Salvo, North Carolina in the USA.
We (8 adults & 1 cutie patootie) rented a beautiful house on the seashore.
We drove down in 2 vehicles and the roads and traffic both there and back were good with no mishaps along the way.
The states we drove through were so pretty and the people we had contact with in all the states were friendly and helpful.
The rest stops along the Interstate highways were always clean.
I must say that Virginia takes my breath away as does Pennsylvania.
The mountains were......well lets just say I couldn't get enough of them.
The further south we drove the more sunshine and warm weather we had.
Just watching the colours turn from drab browns to greens then to a riot of colours as the flowers and blooming plants became more frequent was really good to see.
By the time we reached North Carolina it was hot enough that we had the air conditioning on in the van and we were ready for shorts, tank tops and sandals.
The time we spent in NC was so relaxing and fun. The people of that state are so laid back and friendly. Always eager to help if they think we needed it.
The weather was perfect....the sun shone most of the time.
Most of us got sunburned even with wearing sun screen.
The water was warm...we spent one morning playing in the waves in the ocean and one afternoon in the quieter bay side of the ocean.
The wind was always there...sometimes just a pleasant breeze...most times blowing hard enough that we propped open the doors to keep them from slamming shut.
The wind was great for sleeping at night because it was cool but there were also no mosquito's.
One of us, not me, slept out in the screened porch most of the week. She loved it!
During the day and evenings we walked along the beach collecting shells and enjoying the ocean view. We played games, read, shopped and just enjoyed each others company for the week.
Sometimes we did nothing but stare at the ocean.
One evening we went over to Avon and got our crabs at Dirty Dicks and afterwards we stopped for dessert at the DQ.
Another evening we watched people fishing off the pier in Avon. Someone caught a fish that looked like a stingray but it wasn't one. I think it was called a skype. I could be wrong on the name and/or the spelling though.
Anyway the vacation wasn't good......... it was GREAT!
We got home Sunday afternoon and I had Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off.
I worked Thursday and that just about killed me.
Today is Friday which I had off because I am only working four day weeks now. Also because this is my four day week and because it is a Federal holiday on Monday it works out that I won't go into work until Wednesday of next week.
That sucks big time! Man, I don't know if I can handle working for a living anymore!
I feel ill just thinking about it.
SIGH......................

Don't even ask.

Hubby John has always said that I can't walk and chew gum at the same time. I hate to admit that he speaks the truth on this subject.
I can't believe that I did what I did tonight. It boggles my mind. Sometimes I wonder how I ever wake up, get dressed and drive to work without hurting myself.
After being off for the last 12 days on vacation, I went back to work today. I worked 3 hours extra this evening to try to clear some of the vacation return desk-mess that always greets me when I get back into the office.
I am sure you know what it is like. Vacation is great but the work is still there when you get back.
Sheila, my office cohort, was great at making sure that I have separate file folders for book orders, docket orders, and stuff to take care of when I get back and have the time to deal with it. She takes care of my email and even sorted and created files for my personal emails, emails that need to be answered and emails that are questionable.
THANK YOU SHEILA! She really makes a return from holiday much easier. I am so lucky to work with her.
Anyway, today was a very long, hectic non-stop day for me. Working those extra three hours made me very tired and I was really glad to get home. Hubby John had cooked up a pan of homemade macaroni and cheese for my supper. So I grabbed a bowl of the mac & cheese, my bowl of salad and a big glass of cold milk, took two steps towards the family room and promptly dumped everything. Oh my gosh , there was cheese sauce and salad everywhere! The ooey gooey cheesy macaroni dumped down the side of the stove, all over the floor and splashed the side wall, water cooler and the pantry. Did I mention that the pantry has louvered doors? Do you know what a pain-in-the-ass louvered doors are for cleaning? Trust me they are.....a really big PITA! Mixed into the mess was the salad with the wonderful creamy ranch dressing and feta cheese crumbles. What a MESS!!!
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the oven mitts that are hanging beside the stove. Yep....most of them got covered in or filled up with mac & cheese and salad with ranch dressing. Just lovely!
I didn't drop the glass of milk but it had floaters....yum, yum.
And of course the clean shirt that I had just put on was no longer clean.
SIGH...........................
All I could do was clean up the mess. Hubby John came out to help and after he was done laughing we washed the stove and the walls and the damn louvred pantry doors, the water cooler, the kitchen floor, the whole kitchen floor mind you, and then we washed and rinsed off/out the oven mitts (all 6 of them).
Then I had to make my supper all over again.
This time I didn't drop anything and I made it to the family room to watch Survivor and a 2 hour special of Gray's Anatomy while eating my lovely dinner. (Watching that season finale was worth the kitchen mess for sure....I can't wait for the new season to start in the fall.)
So when Hubby John says I can't chew gum and walk at the same time he really means it. Just look at what happened when I tried to walk and carry something at the same time.
I'm going to bed now. I am tired beyond belief and I think I just found some cheese sauce in my hair.........don't even ask.
P.S. Thanks for making supper John. It was good!

Don't take out the garbage when you are tired!

In the mornings while getting ready for work I tend to multitask. While brushing my teeth I am usually putting on a load of wash. While getting my lunch ready I will be filling the sink with water to soak any stray dishes that were used between supper and breakfast. These I will wash up and leave on the drain tray to air dry, just before I go out the door. While getting dressed, which I do in the basement.....don't ask!....I will feed the kitties and change their litter boxes. I pick up yesterdays paper and put it in the recycling bag, and will collect any pop cans and put them in the recycling bin. I do odds and ends that I see that need to be done because at my age I am now in the mindset of "do it while you think of it or you will forget and it won't get done." Normally I can do all of this with never a problem.
This past Friday morning while getting ready for work, I was really, really, really tired. It had been a very long week at work and I had put a lot of extra hours in. Friday is garbage day and I wanted to make sure the litter boxes were cleaned. The garbage in the kitchen needed to be changed and as usual there were a few dishes to be washed. The house was (and still is) in a mess and uproar because I am working on a bunch of gift baskets for raffle draws for the upcoming benefit dance. There are donated prizes, boxes, bags and my craft stuff everywhere in the kitchen and living room. Anyway as I said, I was really, really tired. So it is no surprise that in my tired haze I accidentally put a bag full of items that I had just bought the night before for use in gift baskets, into the big green garbage bag to was going out for pickup. I did not discover my stupid mistake until after I had gotten home at noon. Of course on any other Friday the garbage would not have been picked up until late afternoon but that day the garbage was long gone shortly after ten in the morning. Murphy's Law, once again, triumphs!
I have searched the house over and over this past weekend hoping against hope that I had maybe set that particular bag down somewhere else.
Nope....it is definitely not there. It is gone, vamoosed!
Lesson learned?
Don't take out the garbage when you are tired!

WELCOME HOME

This very fine Monday evening has just gotten better. I just got off the phone after talking to my nephew, Michael. After I said my goodbyes and sent his family hugs and kisses, I got right back on the phone to call hubby John with some great news.
Michael, Marilyn, Maxim and Meghan are moving back to Ontario....to stay!
YEAH!!!!! [insert big smiles here :) ]
Hubby John, was needless to say, overjoyed that his nephew was coming back home. As a baby and a little boy, Michael spent a lot of time at his Nana and Papa's house. That meant he saw his Uncle John a lot! The family was close; we picnicked together, BBQ'd together and saw each other at least once a week. Hubby John and I, chummed with Michael's mom and dad and so spent a lot of time with them and Michael. We were lucky and we had the pleasure of seeing him grow up. Of course, once the teenage years kicked in, Michael ,being a typical teenage didn't want to see Aunties and Uncles as much so we learned to miss his company. Then came the year he moved out of province and we saw even less of him. Marriage to a beautiful girl by the name of Marilyn took even more of his time as did having a family of his own. That is the way life goes sometimes.
But now, happy days are here again, and the four M & M's are going to be much closer. Only a few hours drive away. Hubby John and I are thrilled.
Michael, Marilyn, Maxim and Meghan.....welcome home!

Sweet Somethings win, spiders lose.

How I Started My Wednesday.

Sweet Somethings by Lois
Was sitting at her table
Reading the morning news
When to her surprise
A spider dropped by
Causing Sweet Somethings to move.
She sprang from her seat
And not missing a beat
Grabbed Hubby John's nearby shoes.
Wham!......goodbye spider
Who shouldn't have sat beside her
Sweet Somethings win, spiders lose.

The above is a true story.
A spider was actually harmed during the making of this poem.
If those darn things would only learn not to sneak up on me.

It makes for a beautiful picture.

There is a house that I drive by each evening on my way home from work that has a huge, pink blossomed, Saucer Magnolia tree in the front yard. The tree stands stately and serene. It encompasses the whole front of the humble abode, a lone sentinel guarding the house. When passing by it's like looking through lace curtains. Every day, even though I have seen this tree the evening before, its' beauty takes me by surprise again and again. What a soothing and restful end to my work day. With each day that passes, the tree's beauty is slowly fading as the blossoms wither away, so today I stopped to snap a picture of it's still magnificent view. What a shock! My serene oasis had been transformed into a construction site with trucks and scaffolding in front of the tree and house. Insert sadness and a sigh here. I wanted to share with you so I searched the Internet for a photo that might show what I've been enjoying. Success! The tree shown above matches. It makes for a beautiful picture don't you agree?

A PRAYER IN SPRING Robert Frost
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends he will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

It will be over soon enough

It seems to me that people are in too much of a rush to have summer arrive. We are, after all, still welcoming spring and trying hard to forget the not-so-distant past, winter. We are just getting used to the longer days and having it still light outside at eight o'clock in the evening.
We are still taking delight in the fact that we no longer need to walk out our front doors with layer upon layer of clothing and heavy boots on, to try to keep warm enough to scrape the cars clear of ice and snow. Some of us will even pause to watch and listen to the robins singing while they run across the front yard in their long black stockings. It is not yet the May two-four weekend and people are planting geraniums in their deck pots and some have even started to plant garden goodies. At almost every convenience store you can see pots after pot of those bright geranium flowers in every hue of red, pink and purple. All the garden centres are clamouring for your attention and are offering acres of multicoloured pansy's along with bright yellow marigolds, flowering ficus trees and cute little garden gnomes.
Hmmm....I think it is too soon for planting earthly delights. For many years, we used to live beside a very old German couple who had been working the earth from the time that they were each old enough to pick weeds as children. Otto and Mrs. Schneiderite would always tell us not to plant before the long weekend in May because the weather could still turn cold. Hubby John and I still live by those words after all these many years. We both feel that if you plant too soon, before all chance of a late frost has past, you run the risk of having to possibly replant. Yes, I know that daffodils and tulips are bursting out all over the place. The lilacs look like they are going to have a good season. It's not too warm for them and they've had a good root soaking from all the snow we had over the winter. People are outside, raking their just defrosted lawns, pulling out last years growth to make room for this years green carpet. But technically we are still in spring mode and truth be told, it's not so late in the season that we still couldn't get a covering of snow. It sure seemed cold enough for it this past week. So even though the birds are singing and making new nests for their soon-to-be birdlings, remember not to rush your summer as it will be over soon enough.

To the Thawing Wind by Robert Frost
Come with rain, O loud Southwester!
Bring the singer, bring the nester;
Give the buried flower a dream;
Make the settled snow-bank steam;
Find the brown beneath the white;
But what e'er you do to-night,
Bathe my window, make it flow,
Melt it as the ice will go;
Melt the glass and leave the sticks
Like a hermit's crucifix;
Burst into my narrow stall;
Swing the picture on the wall;
Run the rattling pages o'er;
Scatter poems on the floor;
Turn the poet out of door.

Thursday Thoughts

This past Sunday, Jaime and I, went for a walk. We ended it by wandering down a path that goes through the woods by her home. It had all the markings of spring: trees budding, trillium's peeking through the ground coverage, some hugging themselves close while waiting for warmer weather, while others were being brave and embracing the sunbeams that were able to reach the woodland floor. Purple violets, white sorrel and yellow trout lilies standing up and showing off their new spring jackets. Pools of dark, cold water from the winter thaw, reflecting the tall trees that were lifting budded and bare branches up towards the rays of watered sunshine. Birds were calling out to one another and a butterfly or two bravely wandered aimlessly in and out of the shadows cast from the odd passing cloud and the silent grey tree trunks.

One of my favourite poets, Robert Frost, was born on a Thursday. (03-26-1874)

He wrote about the exact same subject.

SPRING POOLS by Robert Frost

These pools that, though in forests, still reflect the total sky almost without defect,

And like the flowers beside them, chill and shiver,

Will like the flowers beside them soon be gone,

And yet not out by any brook or river,

But up by roots to bring dark foliage on.

The trees that have it in their pent-up buds

To darken nature and be summer woods

Let them think twice before they use their powers

To blot out and drink up and sweep away

These flowery waters and these watery flowers

From snow that melted only yesterday.

And those, my friends, are my Thursday thoughts.

A Do-Nothing Saturday

Saturday's child works hard for a living....
from child's poem Monday's Child

SATURDAY:
Origins of the name......
The day, Saturday, was named, for the planet Saturn
which controlled the first hour of every day.
This was according to Vettius Valens,
who was a second century astrologer.
The planet Saturn,
was named for the Roman mythology god of agriculture, Saturn.
It has been called ''dies Saturni'' ("Saturn's Day"),
through which from it entered into Old English
as ''Sæternesdæg'' and gradually evolved
into the word "Saturday".

Did you know???
The colour purple represents Saturday,in Thai culture.

For me and my hubby, John, a free Saturday is an adventure day.
Most weekends throughout the year, we have our
Saturdays booked, for various events, many weeks in advance.
It is rare that we get a free Saturday.
For those of you who are thinking..."your choice", you are correct.
Our lack of free Saturdays is our choice.
We have been blessed with a very large number of
family, extended family and friends.
We usually spend part of our Saturdays with some or all of them,
This is something we consider ourselves lucky to be able to do.
So, I am not complaining about busy Saturdays,
I am just stating the fact that we have, by choice, busy Saturdays.
Today, there are 2 things we should be doing....
please notice the word "should".
We have decided, however, that this Saturday,
what we should do, is not what we are going to do.
We are going to be absolutely
100% self-indulgent, greedy and socially incorrect
and grab this beautiful, sunny Saturday
as a "do whatever we want to do" day.
What will we be doing?
We don't know yet.
Right now, I am multitasking.
I am in the office writing my blog, while making tea in the kitchen
and doing laundry in the basement.
John, my hubby, is busy working on his company books so his
accountant, Audrey, who is a wonder-woman,
doesn't end up this year, again, with only
a few day to file the company income tax.
We will work a few hours and then
we will be off and running....or not.
We will wait and see and take things as they go.
The nice thing about having no plans...
is having no plans.
To all who are reading this post today,
I wish you a Happy Saturday
and if this Saturday has past by the time you
read my post, then I hope you had a happy one.

Thursdays Boring? I Think Not!

No matter what kind of week I am having I always look forward to Thursdays. Some people think Thursdays are a boring day. I don't believe that and here are just a few reasons why.

Thursday is the day you start the downhill slide to the weekend. That thought alone should make you smile.

Thursday means that you only have two sleeps until Saturday.

Thursday, for me, is payday and that's a good thing because I am always broke.

Thursday is, for a lot of people, the day to go grocery shopping to stock up on goodies for the upcoming weekend. THINK CHOCOLATE!

So with all the positive things I have listed about Thursday I decided to dedicate today's blog to it.

THURSDAY ON THE INTERNET
It never ceases to amaze me what comes up when you type a single word into the search engine line of the Internet. It seems I am not the only one in cyberspace who truly appreciates "Thursdays". When I entered the word "thursday" in Googles' search engine "458,000,000" hits came up!!! The following are just a few bits and bytes of what I found in my quest for info.

LOOK IT UP AND SEE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.
I got the following information from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/main_page
Pronunciation: \ˈthərz-dē, -(Thurs·dayˌ)dā
Function: noun
Etymology:Middle English, from Old English thursdæg, from Old Norse thōrsdagr; akin to Old English thunresdæg, Thursday,
Old Norse Thōrr Thor,
Old English thunor, thunder
Date: before 12th century: the fifth day of the week.

How Thursday Got Its Name.........Why Not Louella, Ralph or Lois???
Basically what it boils down to is that Thursday
was named after the Norse God of Thunder, "Thor."

To be fair to any naysayers who like to think of their
Thursday as half finished rather than half unfinished,
I must show the other side of the calendar.

BLACK THURSDAY
Black Thursday refers to October 24, 1929 when stock
prices on the New York Stock Exchange fell sharply with
record volume of nearly 13 million shares.
Five days later the market crashed on volume of
over 16 million shares, a level not to be surpassed
for 39 years. In popular imagery, the crash has come
to mark the beginning of the Great Depression.

THURSDAY in RELIGION
HINDUISM: In the Hindu religion, Thursday is Guruvaar, from Guru,
the Sanskrit name for Jupiter, the largest of planets.
Guruvaar fasting is very common throughout India for
various holy/religious reasons. The Urdu (language spoken in India)
name for Thursday is Jumeraat (eve of Friday).

ISLAM: In Islam Thursdays are considered auspicious days for fasting.

JUDAISM: Thursdays are considered auspicious days for
fasting for those who practice Judaism also. In Judaism the
Torah is read in public on Thursday mornings and special
penitential prayers are said on Thursday, unless there is
a special occasion for happiness which cancels them.

CHRISTIANITY: In the Christian tradition, Maundy Thursday,
is the Thursday before Easter. It is the day on which the Last Supper
occurred. Jesus washed his disciples feet that day and was arrested
and put to death on the next day, Good Friday.
The practise of foot washing continues throughout the world in Catholic
churches on Maundy Thursday.
Ascension Thursday is 40 days after Easter, when Christ ascended into Heaven.

EASTERN ORTHODOX: In the Eastern Orthodox Church, Thursdays are
dedicated to the Apostles and Saint Nicholas. The Octoechos contains hymns
on these themes, arranged in an eight-week cycle, that are chanted on
Thursdays throughout the year.

QUAKERS: Quakers traditionally refer to Thursday as "Fifth Day"
eschewing the pagan origin of the English name "Thursday".
The name of the day is also called by words meaning "fifth day" in
Icelandic, Modern Greek, Portuguese and modern Semitic languages.

THE COLOUR OF THURSDAY
Did you know that in Thailand the COLOUR of Thursday is Orange?

THURSDAY Media Trivia
In the "Mondays Child" nursery rhyme, Thursdays child has far to go".

Gabriel Syme, the main character was given the title of Thursday in G.K.Chesterton's novel The Man Who Was Thursday.
