Heike aka Goddess In The Groove has a blog that makes me go "Ohhh.....". It is on my favourites list and I usually check it out every week. Because December was such a busy month I had neglected getting back to it (and all of my other favourite blogs) since long before Santa came to visit. In January when I finally got a few minutes I went over to read what Heike has been up to. This lovely poem was in one of her pre-Chrismas posts. As I was reading it for some reason I thought of my baby girlz. This describes her. She is such a strong woman. I love her and am very proud of her. So Jaime, this blog's for you!
After a While By Veronica Shoffstall
After a while you learn the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open,
with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today because
tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth.

I haven't been by in awhile and I pop over tonight and find this post; thanks for making me cry mom!
I am who I am thanks to my phenomenal parents. Thank you for helping to guide me down the right paths mom.
Hi! Thanks for the visit and nice comment over at my place today!
I love your cranky pants post and I love that, in your profile, you hate rap crap (me too!), I also hate the same things you mention in your margin like the toilet paper roll that won't let you get it started easily, etc. You seem to hit my thoughts right on target much of the time.
I remember my mother sharing this poem with me once...it is so simple and beautiful in its wisdom. Thanks for letting me read it once again.
Hi there Lois,
what a beautiful piece of writing.
The dog in my photo is a purebred, the breed is Australian Cattle Dog. They were bred from blue heelers, red heelers & german shepherds. They come up to about knee height & are bred to round up cattle.
Have a great day!
What a lovely poem. Very wise.
I really like "goddess in the groove's" name for her blog, too!
Thanks for always inspiring, Lois. xxx
